I’m Back!

Wow, I know that it’s been a long time since I have regularly updated my blog, but I am determined to get back to it and write more often, “I think I can, I think I can….”. The benefit for me is that it will encourage me to be more adventurous, so that I’ll have something exciting to write about (as though raising 6 kids isn’t exciting enough!)

The winter was long…..and cold…..as they generally are here in Wisconsin, and I was blessed to be able to spend the days with my husband and children, taking a break from photography for a time. Though I’ll tell you, there were times I was just itching to get behind the camera, I really fully enjoyed the time spent with my family, and away from the computer (a photography business seems to be 1 part getting out there and taking pictures and 9 parts desk work, who would have thought, right?).

I am glad to be back at it though and so happy to have the camera back in my hands.  Recently, I had a bit of fun with our pet box turtle, Berry. He was generally amicable and is quite the handsome little reptile. :)

Here he is, letting me know what he thinks of getting his picture taken….(I had a Chicken Run moment when seeing this shot…”Those chickens are up to something, their organized.” Hmmm, I think turtles might have a few tricks up their sleeves too.)

Then I took him for some outdoor fun and unfortunately I don’t think he could handle the distractions. He was more interested in getting away as quickly as his little legs would carry him and burrowing into the leaves. I did manage to get a shot of him before he dipped under….

And just for thrills I took a few self portraits too (you would think I’d have more willing subjects in a family this size, wouldn’t you?) Here’s one of my favorites….

Thank you to those of you who subscribe to my blog!!! For everyone else, you can join the crowd with little effort, simply enter your email address into the box at the bottom of the page. I just love a good cliffhanger. ;)

April 15, 2009

There is one word to describe a beach session in the spring…… unpredictable!

We had rescheduled this senior session for a more promising day only to find that the beach was not only cold, but windy too! I mean really windy! But just as springtime weather is ever unpredictable, I find that teenagers are always accommodating. She braved it out and we did what we could, hanging close to the shelter of the beach house, and did not fail to get some great shots of this beautiful young lady.

my last senior of the class of 2009….

And one from the studio…

a dog named Rosko

A little something different from me.

I had never really considered the possibility of “pet portrait sessions” when along came an opportunity to photograph this newly adopted miniature dachshund. Honestly, my expectations were low going into it, but upon the conclusion of our mini session, I was pleasantly surprised at the images I had achieved of this lovable pup. He was darling enough to make me think twice about where a puppy might fit into our family, but then (thankfully) reality took over and for now our cats are definitely the perfect pet for our busy family.

March 25, 2009

I recently had the good fortune(photographing newborns is always good fortune!) to photograph this adorable baby boy at 2 1/2 weeks old. What a precious new little one for this growing family. He was the sweetest little guy and I definitely enjoyed my short bit of time with him. Thanks for bringing him in, Mom and Dad!
